"The Blind Date"
Notes: The SKIT is all done in PANTOMIME, (no speaking) The classical music in background makes it very amusing, as the characters try to be cool and dignified all throughout the disastrous meal. The SKIT should be practiced until it is smooth, going from one sequence to the next. Time: Approx.30 minutes
Pantomime Actions Script:
1. Soft, romantic music is playing as Steven very carefully escorts Carla into the fancy restaurant, she stumbles, as they enter (neither can see a thing without their glasses.)
2.They are seated by the Maitre' D. He holds menu out to her, she takes it, peers at it, looks at Steven, smiles shyly. Steven looks at his menu, then mimes "We'll have that" (pointing to an item on the menu)Waiter, takes Steven's menu and turns it right side up, gives it back to him with a smirk.
3. The Waiter sets a napkin on fire from lighting the candle. Big production of putting fire out. She throws flower vase of water on Steven, he sops up the water, then they laugh.
4. She keeps knocking things over and squinting, yet smiling at him, nervously
5.Waiter comes with a pitcher of water, because she can't see, she keeps moving her water glass, he pours all over the table, finally grabs her hand to still the glass. Dabs at the wet table and leaves.
6. A flower falls from her hair, into her water glass. She has to gracefully pick it out.
7. Waiter brings soup, Steven can't see spoon, feels for it, picks up his knife, tries to eat soup with his knife.
8. His bow tie drops into soup, he tries to get it out gracefully, and squeeze the liquid out.
9. Waiter brings a plate of food (salad and rolls) for each of them. She barely picks at her food, too shy, but when Steven excuses himself to go to the restroom, she eats everything in sight.
10. He's very vain about his appearance, drops things off table and checks teeth/hair with a mirror hidden in his sock.
