Preview Script for Melodrama:
"New Teacher at Buzzard Gulch"
MA: Please sit down, Mr. Bodene, it is mighty nice of you to come all the way up here to our place. These youngins' have been missing school since the Dirty Desperado Dalton gang chased off the last teacher we had.
TEACHER: I hope to be here a long time, this seems like a quiet little town, peaceful.
DIM: Well it ain't so peaceful when the DDD's start causing trouble.
TEACHER: The Dalton gang, eh? I've heard about them all over Texas. I hope to steer clear of them.
DIM: Well I hope you know how to use a gun Teacher, cause them Dalton's are the meanest outlaws around
(LOUD KNOCK is heard )
NIT: (Looks outside) Oh no, here comes Sylvester Slink with the DDD's (turns to TEACHER). They're the Dirty Desperado Dalton Gang and Philbert is the roughest, meanest, onriest cowpoke this side of the river. I hope he don't git mad at you.
DIM: They say he's the fastest gun in the whole territory.
MA: Slink's probably here for the tax money. Oh that man is a nuisance! I told him my husband is on a cattle drive and won't be sending the money for another month or two. Might as well get this over with, let them in Nit.
(Teacher doesn't want to be seen, asks for a drink of water, Dim takes him out of scene..
Nit opens door, and three rough cowboys push their way inside knocking Nit down, Sylvester Slink & DDD's come in stepping over Nit)
MA: (Not friendly) Sylvester Slink, what brings you out here today?
SLINK: I've got business that cannot wait Mrs. Whitt. I've come about the little matter of the taxes you owe. (smiles at PRISSY) Ah.. my dear Miss Prissy Mae, you're looking fresh as a dewdrop on a rose blossom.
(to audience) I have to lay it on thick to get this girl to agree to my scheme, hee hee)
PRISSY: (is not impressed) Ain't there some poor widow out there you need to be swindling?
